Mechanically harvesting the fragile summer or
semi green onion has been virtually impossible in the past,
forcing growers to utilize manual labor to harvest their crops.
The Top Green onion harvester provides the solution to
high costs associated with manual labor.
The patented Top Green technology utilizes Teflon coated
spiraled rolls with rubber finger strips to orient the onions
tops down and transport them to the cutter head.
As they pass through the cutter head the onions are
indexed on domes which ensure a consistent cut neck length.
Pairs of hydraulically driven circular blades, one side
notched feeder blades and the other side a sharp cutter blade,
cleanly sever the tops from the bulb.
A post inspection table ensures virtually 100% topping
efficiency at optimum capacity.
Field proven in the Southwest, the Top Green
harvester has consistently delivered high quality, uniformly
topped onions with minimal mechanical damage.
The short uniform necks, approximately 1” in length, help
reduce curing time in the field or at the packing facility.
